Horotiu

Horotiu literally translates to ‘swiftly flowing’. Many years ago, Māori explorers ascended the Waikato River in their canoes, finding that the current above the junction with the Waipa is swift and strong. They named this place Horotiu.

Translating this idea to today, we are an unhesitant and mighty house. The atmosphere we have cultivated so far is one of support, tenacity and respect. We hold very high standards of all Horotiuians, which is driven by our house philosophy; to produce good quality people who contribute to society in a positive way. We try to apply this to everything we do as a house, while keeping a competitive and driven house community with high expectations of our staff and students within the wider school, this is our goal. Kia ora.
