Jake Brugh
School Prefect (Academic)
I am looking forward to this year as an Academic Prefect. I would like to encourage students to pursue academic success and have fun while doing so. I will be joined by Isla and rest of the amazing Academic Committee.
My goal for this year is to successfully enable students to receive the help they need to reach their desired grades. Work hard and you will have a bright future!
Ally El Senussi
School Prefect (Te Huingaa – Belonging & Connection)
As one of CHS’s Te Huingaa Prefects for 2026, I’m here to build confidence and connection through culture. I want our school to be a place where identity is strength and difference is the power to be you. Everyone should feel proud of who they are and where they come from.
Through language weeks, exchanges with students from abroad, and even getting to know more people within our own school, I’m here to give it everything. My goal is to move forward as one, with purpose and presence. Legacy over labels, growth towards greatness. Here’s to a year of growth, unity and impact.

School Prefect (Te Hunga Taikaakaa)
Kia Orana! It's a huge honour to be a Te Hunga Taikaakaa prefect for this year and even more of an honour to work alongside one of my day ones here at Cambridge High - Deja Ngohe. It feels a little unreal to have this opportunity, but because I do I will make the most of it.
I've always loved to be involved and have fun which is exactly what I'll be doing through this leadership role. I have big goals to make the most of this year and to make and cherish all the memories made along the way! I can't wait for the opportunities and challenges waiting for me as a school prefect and how it will grow and shape me as a person. I can't promise you much, but know I'll always give my all. And if you hear people laughing loud, it's probably the Te Hunga Taikaakaa prefects!

School Prefect (Community & Sustainability)
As someone who has always valued our planet and the diverse people who make it up, I’m so excited to be one of your Community and Sustainability prefects this year. This role allows me to translate my passions into real-life actions here at Cambridge High. I hope to develop new relationships within our school and contribute in ways that promote environmental and community awareness.
I want to challenge students this year to rethink how they approach sustainability and look after our environment, by providing a more attainable approach that students will instead feel empowered to be a part of. I’m looking forward to the year ahead and how we can make Cambridge High more connected and environmentally conscious.
Penny Lang
School Prefect (Sports)
Hi, I’m Penny, one of your Sports Prefects for 2026! In this role, I aim to promote upcoming sports fixtures and events, and to highlight student sporting achievements across all codes. I am passionate about sports myself, competing in rugby, golf, and CrossFit.
I want to maintain a positive and inclusive sporting environment where everyone feels encouraged and welcomed to get involved, whether that’s competing or supporting our school teams and individual athletes.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all out there this year!
Laqueisha Lim
School Prefect (Te Huingaa – Belonging & Connection)
I am super stoked and honoured to be a Te Huingaa Prefect for 2026! I've always loved being involved in school and embracing new experiences. Since arriving in New Zealand, I've tried various sports, danced for the first time, winning at nationals last year and met amazing people.
As an international student, I understand the importance of community support. I'm lucky to always feel welcomed and supported at CHS, and have been given the privilege of prefect and lead as president for the LEOS club this year. I hope to make CHS more positive and inclusive, highlighting the diverse cultures in our school.
I'm beyond grateful for these opportunities and excited to see what 2026 brings!
Harris MacLennan
School Prefect (Community & Sustainability)
My name is Harris MacLennan, and I am honored to be the Community and Sustainability Prefect for 2026. I am passionate about strengthening the connection between our school and the community. I believe that our school is not just a place for learning but also an important part of our community in Cambridge.
By building positive relationships, encouraging service, and supporting local initiatives, we can contribute in meaningful ways outside of school to create a positive impact. Outside of this, I am committed to promoting sustainable practices to respect and protect the environment around us.
I look forward to working with students, staff, and the community to create a positive and inclusive environment that is welcoming to all.
Bede Newlands
School Prefect (Sports)
As Sports Prefect, I’m looking forward to building a strong sense of pride, participation, and unity through sport. I believe sport has the power to bring people together, build resilience, and create opportunities for growth.
My goal this year is to strengthen recognition for our sporting achievements, as too often the success of our teams goes unnoticed. I want more students to be aware of the opportunities available and the accomplishments happening across our sports programmes.
By celebrating the hard work, commitment, and success of our athletes, I hope we create an environment where everyone feels valued and proud to represent our school through sport.
Deja Ngoha
School Prefect (Te Hunga Taikaakaa)
As an aakonga Maaori myself, my main goal for 2026 is to empower Maaori students - not only within our kura, but across our wider hapori - with the confidence to be heard, not just acknowledged. I aim to be a strong voice and a source of support for aakonga Maaori, and to help create meaningful change for Maaori students living in our hapori where te ao Maaori is often not recognised. Getting the majority of aakonga involved in activities surrounding te wiki o te reo Maaori and the haka comp is something I would like to make happen. To see and feel appreciation for te ao Maaori, from our kura and wider hapori, is the overall goal for me to achieve this year as your Maaori leader for 2026. Ko te reo me te tikanga ngaa taonga tuku iho, me tiaki e taatou.

School Prefect (Arts)
Kia ora, I am privileged to represent the arts department by taking on a role of Arts Prefect for 2026. I am very thankful for this position to plan various tasks which help our school and community move forward.
Growing up here in Cambridge I have always found a connection to the Arts, as Art is a key part of our identity and creativity in our school. I wish to encourage students to express themselves and thrive this year, to find their passion. With that, I am honoured to be given the opportunity to serve you all.
If you happen to find me around school, feel welcome to say hello and ask questions about anything you wish.
Maggie Strawbridge
School Prefect (Senior Celebrations)
My name is Maggie Strawbridge, and I am one of your Senior Celebrations Prefects for 2026! I’m really looking forward to planning cool events where everyone can get involved and have fun, meeting new people along the way.
My goal for this year is to create memorable and fun events that are enjoyable for all participants. I hope to achieve this by taking feedback from previous events and taking into consideration others opinions that may be different to my own. This way, all those with different personalities or interests will be accounted for and acknowledged.
Being in a prefect position means that this year I will be facing many new challenges and enduring new experiences and I couldn’t be more excited.
Alexis Turner
School Prefect (Senior Celebrations)
My name is Alexis Turner, and I am so excited to be one of the Senior Celebrations Prefects for 2026, alongside Maggie Strawbridge. I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for my fellow peers and me. But knowing I can help create long lasting memories for everyone makes me even more eager to get involved with as much as possible.
I look forward to planning key events for our senior students such as the ball and graduation. These were the events I remember looking forward to most when I was in year 9. Getting to design and create items such as our year 13 leavers’ gear and the leavers book will be especially fulfilling knowing we have made cherished keepsakes that will hopefully stay with us for many years to come, to help us hold onto our fond memories of CHS.

I will forever be grateful for the opportunities that CHS provides to students.
As an arts prefect this year, I hope that I’m able to give back to the school by encouraging students to experience new areas of art, and try new opportunities that showcase their talents and passions. This is going to be a great year, and I cannot wait to see what it has in store for us!
