Japanese

Japan has a rich history and diverse culture. Its language is spoken by more than 130 million people - making it one of the top 10 spoken languages in the world. Here at Cambridge High School we aim to share this language and culture with students, with the goal for them being able to travel around Japan and complete tourist orientated activities by the start of Year 11.

Tourist orientated activities include but are not limited to:

1) Ordering food at a restaurant

2) Finding your way when lost

3) Having a basic conversation with native Japanese school students about hobbies, interests, and daily life both in Japan and New Zealand.

At Year 12 and Year 13, students start developing fluency in the language enabling students to think about life more seriously in Japan. For example, teaching English as an Assistant Language Teacher, or working for an international trade or automobile company; enabling students to take a career path towards global business.
