Geography

Geography at Cambridge High School has always focused on students having fun.  Learning, to us should involve fun and interactive classrooms, field trips, interesting topics and academic results that will rival any school.  Our Facebook site - Cambridge High School Geography - Friends, Family and Community has become a celebration of what is great about our subject and it ensures you stay in contact well after your time at school has finished.  We develop close relationships with our students and consequently they continue to support present students with career guidance and guest speaker roles.  Our students have become leaders in their chosen areas and include Environmental Planners, Clinical Psychologists, Linguists, Surgeons, Film Makers, Engineers, Zookeepers, Wall Street Bankers, Teachers, Lawyers, Pilots, Members of Parliament to name but a few.

Our topics have been carefully chosen to include tropical cyclones and coastal processes while looking into issues like freshwater, agriculture and the use of 1080 poison to control pests.  We have a strong field work focus which involves trips to Napier to study viticulture, Maungatautari for vegetation succession, Waihi Beach for coastal processes and the Gold Coast for tourism development.  Our subject is classified as an Arts and a Science subject where students gain both Literacy and Numeracy credits which allows them to achieve the required pre-requisites to university and NCEA qualifications.

Come and join the fun, feel supported and make a difference to the world you live in.
