Good afternoon everyone,
Term 2 is only 9 weeks long with 2 long weekends and our Cambridge wide professional learning day during Fieldays. It is an important term and, as you will see in this letter home, there is a lot going on.
It was great to get the winter season underway this week with a sports exchange against Mt Maunganui College. This was the first time in our memory that we have hosted a school exchange. It was a very successful day, partly because we lifted the trophy and largely for the positive vibes of the day where the fixtures were evenly contested with great sportsmanship on display. I received excellent feedback from staff at Mt Maunganui College about the hospitality that our school community extended to them and their students. It was a fantastic way to get our winter season started and we now follow it up with all codes starting this week. Thank you in advance to the huge contribution from our community and staff across the year and your provision of opportunities for our students in sports and the arts. It makes a real difference for the student experience of school, and we are incredibly fortunate to have such strong support from the CHS community.
In the letter today:
- Assessment update
- Sabbatical feedback
- Postponement of parent evenings
- Reminders about uniform, phones and safe pick-up zone in bad weather
- Upcoming events
Ngaa mihi
Greg Thornton
Principal
