Open Day and Uniform Update

Dear CHS Whaanau,

The thing that has always struck me about Cambridge is how intertwined every part of this community is. People work together, help each other, and really appreciate just how fortunate we are to have the town we do. Cambridge High School relies on the town for its students, and the town relies on us for the next generation that will help maintain standards in all areas of life here.

Linked to this, our Open Day, taking place on Thursday 30 April, is an opportunity for us to display who we are and what we stand for. This year a record number of current students will be helping out on the evening, showing off the indisputable quality of our facilities and academic offerings. While the event is aimed at prospective CHS whaanau, you are most welcome to attend. There will be a short presentation in the hall at 4pm, repeated at 4.45pm and 5.30pm. Each of these will be followed by a 30-minute tour, led by our Student Leaders.

Thank you very much for the ongoing feedback we have received regarding our new uniform. We share your frustrations regarding low stock levels and met with senior representatives from SAS (The Uniform Shoppe) today to understand the current situation.

Over 100 jerseys have arrived this week and are now on the shelves. Other items are also available and will continue to be restocked over the next two weeks. We really appreciate the efforts that you have made to keep the uniform smart – even if it has meant remaining in the old uniform for some at this stage. I will thank the school for this during our special ANZAC assembly on Wednesday morning, while reminding students that non-uniform items such as hoodies are not permitted. Our Deans team stand ready to assist any student who needs uniform on a temporary basis.

SAS have pointed out that a number of pre-orders remain uncollected at their Cambridge shop. If you have received a message from them, please pop in when they are open – Tuesday & Thursday 2.30-5.30pm and Saturday 9am-1pm. Note they are unfortunately closed due to ANZAC Day this Saturday.

Finally, today I want to thank those who have reached out to wish me well as I step into the Acting Principal role for the rest of this year. I take this responsibility very seriously but know we have an outstanding staff team across the school who will continue to strive for excellence in teaching, learning, and other areas of school life. Know that your children are in good hands at CHS.

I wish you a lovely long weekend and look forward to seeing some of you at the Open Day next week.
