What this means for CHS
Dear Parents/Whaanau
You may have heard the recent announcement about changes to improve the current NCEA system to reduce its complexity and the variations across schools.
While improvements are needed, we want to reassure you that our current NCEA qualifications at Cambridge High School remain rigorous and meaningful. For over two decades, our NCEA qualifications have allowed students to gain admission to universities nationally and internationally, or to secure highly regarded apprenticeships and employment opportunities locally and beyond.
Our teaching and learning programmes across all year levels will continue to be grounded in academic integrity, an individual learning journey, and a pursuit of personal excellence.
We welcome changes that will reduce the complexity of the qualification structure allowing parents/whaanau greater understanding and ability to support their child's learning progress. We endorse the need for more consistency of learning and assessment across schools. Lastly, we view the strengthening of vocational pathways with direct links to industry as an opportunity for our school.
Ngaa mihi
Carol Webb
Acting Principal
