Basketball is one of New Zealand's fastest growing sports and is New Zealand's number one sport by participation. At CHS we offer both competitive and social teams across junior and senior school levels for both boys and girls in the Waikato Secondary Schools Sports Competition.

If you are wishing to play competitively then you will need to indicate this when registering. Trials will take place in March to form our competitive teams at both junior and senior level.  

For those wanting to enjoy the social side of Basketball, we also encourage this. You are welcome to list some friends you wish to play with in the registration form or alternatively we will place you in a team. Please note, social teams must have a parent/adult manager, it is optional to have a coach however we will not appoint coaches to social teams.

We love our parents and whaanau to be involved at all levels of the game. From coach to team manager, score bench support or even referee; please let us know how you can help!

Practice Times: For competitive teams, practice days and times vary depending on your team and coach but could be early morning or after school. Social teams have the option of training also.

Games: Played during Terms 2 and 3. There is travel involved as we play both home and away games to several different locations across Hamilton and Waikato area.

Fees: $150 - $200

Uniform: Playing uniform is supplied by the school.

Gear Required: Sneakers / basketball shoes and a mouthguard.

Junior and Senior Prem Trials:

We recommend you attend as many of the trials as possible to give the selectors the best chance to see your game.

• Junior Trials – 22nd & 29th of February and 7th of March, 6:30 to 8am at the CHS Gym

• Senior Trials – 20th & 27th of February and 5th of March, 6:30 to 8am at the CHS Gym
