CHS is known for its award winning Jazz Bands that succeed regionally and nationally as well as perform regularly in the community. Due to popularity, there are currently four Jazz Bands. In 2025 the Premier Jazz Band won Gold Awards at the Australian International Music Festival, NZ Youth Jazz Festival and the Waikato Music Festival.

Instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Bass, Guitar, Keyboard, Drums, Vocals.
