Kapa Haka

Nō onamata te mauri.
Kei anamata te aronga.
Connecting traditional knowledge to present practices.

As part of Cambridge High School’s (CHS) Culturally Responsive initiative, Māori Performing Arts (MPA), also known as Kapa Haka, is an integral kaupapa that strengthens our national identity and bi-cultural partnership. We encourage all students from Years 9 to 13 to join. MPA is a fun and engaging way to learn Te Reo Māori, hītori (history) and tikanga (customs). Storytelling told through MPA – allows students to develop an understanding of and appreciation for: karakia, mōteatea, waiata-ā-ringa, haka, poi etc. We work together as a whānau with a common desire to retain and honour traditional Māori practices through in-school and community events. Nau mai, hāere mai!
