Cambridge High School Board
Our School Board is the governing body of our school and play a central role in the educational achievement of our children. They are responsible for the school's performance and for ensuring that all legal requirements are met.

Dr Jim Goodrich
I have lived and worked in Cambridge for over 20 years and my wife and I have raised our children here. We have two children at Cambridge High School, and our oldest child graduated in 2022.
I have been working as a dental surgeon in the Cambridge community continuously since 1999, and share that time contributing to the police and coronial services as a forensic odontologist, services I also provide to the NZDF as a reserve officer. I worked during the Christchurch Earthquake, the Mosque Shootings, and the Whakaari Volcano disasters to help return loved ones to their families.
I am extensively involved with forensics here and overseas and am a member of several international organisations as well as currently being the immediate past president of the New Zealand Society of Forensic Odontology. I serve on thirteen Boards in various countries and often speak at conferences overseas. I aim to be a life-long learner and have recently completed a certificate in mental health, trauma and recovery, and a New Zealand certificate in Tikanga Māori at Te Wananga o Aotearoa.
It’s a privilege and a responsibility to serve as a parent representative on the CHS Board and I look forward to contributing to build on the excellent work done by the previous board during difficult times, and working hard for positive outcomes for the students and staff, teaching and non-teaching, of Cambridge High School.
One of the crucial roles of the presiding member is to promote effective communication between the board and the community, and as such I welcome questions or feedback that you may have.

Miss Corren Ngerengere (Board Member)
Teena koutou katoa,
My name is Corren Ngerengere and I was co-opted as the Ngaa Poutiaki representative to the Cambridge High School Board in 2021 and elected as parent elect in 2022.
I am the mother of two amazing children who both attended Cambridge High School. My eldest is in her sixth year of University and her fifth year studying Medicine at Waipapa Taumata Rau - University of Auckland. My youngest completed Year 13 in 2021 and is working and living abroad. I have over seven years’ experience as a parent at Cambridge High School and 11 years of involvement in the school. I remain appreciative of the opportunities provided to my children, it is this that motivates me to ensure every child gets what they need from their time at Cambridge High School.
I have resided in Cambridge for the past 16 years and in that time, I have served over 15 years in educational governance both as a board member or a presiding member in various schools. I have been on the Care and Protection Resource Panel for Oranga Tamariki - Waikato Rural South for six years and have held the Chair position for the past three years. I come from a professional background in the social services sector. I have an in-depth working knowledge of the many and varied complexities and challenges our children face both inside and outside the school context.
I am a strategic thinker and utilise information and data to drive informed decisions. I am not afraid to have difficult conversations and respectfully challenge decisions when appropriate.
I believe in creating and providing opportunities for our children to explore, grow and succeed in a very fluid and rapidly changing world and education sector.
I feel privileged to apply my world view and skill set to this position and look forward to ensuring our children, staff and community feel reflected and represented here at Cambridge High School.
Ngaa mihi nui

Mr Dan Finn (Board Member)
Having grown up in Cambridge from an early age, I’m proud to call this community home and to serve as a member of the CHS Board.
As a husband and dedicated parent of three - two of whom currently attend CHS - I bring both a personal and professional commitment to the school. I have over 25 years of experience as a senior HR leader across large and complex organisations, where I’ve developed strengths in strategic leadership, influence, facilitation, conflict resolution, and business processes.
I’m currently the Head of People, Safety and Wellbeing at Hamilton City Council, where I’ve worked for approximately eight years. My career has also spanned sectors including manufacturing, transport and logistics, operations, and mental health.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with many inspiring and capable people. I bring a high level of energy and a passion for achieving excellent results. I enjoy working collaboratively, thinking innovatively, challenging the status quo, and fostering meaningful relationships.
I feel privileged to serve as a parent representative on the CHS Board. I take this responsibility seriously and am committed to exercising sound judgement and due diligence in support of our students, staff, and wider school community.
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active, cooking, spending time with my family, and travelling to warm surf destinations.

Mrs Elizabeth Harvey (Board Member)
Ms Chantel Fourie (Board Member)
My name is Chantel Fourie. I have been a Deputy Principal for the past four years, with a strong focus on pastoral care and supporting student wellbeing. I am also a proud mum of three amazing boys – two of whom currently attend Cambridge High school. My eldest is in Year 13 and will be heading off next year to study Law at Waikato University, and my second son is in Year 10.
I completed my teaching degree at the University of Pretoria before relocating with my family to New Zealand in 2009. My first teaching position was at Opononi Area School in the Hokianga Harbour, and I will always see this as a beautiful gift New Zealand has given to my family.
Over the years, I have learned that at the heart of education is building strong, trusting relationships with students. I am excited every day to teach, guide, and support young people, as I believe that every child deserves a champion who will encourage and advocate for them.
I have lived in Cambridge for the past 9.5 years and feel very connected to this community. As a board representative, I aim to be a positive link between the school and our community, bringing a voice that supports both families and staff. I am passionate about open communication, wellbeing, and creating opportunities where every student can thrive.

Mr Jordan Newlands (Staff Board Member)
A teacher at CHS for eight years in the Health and Physical Education Faculty, I'm passionate about making CHS a fantastic place to attend for both staff and students hence putting myself forward to represent our staff on the Board of Trustees as the Staff Representative.
I was a bicycle mechanic prior to teaching and spent a number of years travelling abroad as a working mechanic as well as working in local cycle shops in the Waikato area. Graduated University with my teaching and sport and leisure degrees in 2012 but took my time leaving the bike world behind me and getting my first and only teaching role at Cambridge High in 2015. I've loved my time here and enjoy interacting with both staff and students.
Married to my wife Sara who is a born and bred Cambridge girl, we have two young sons under three years old and we love being part of this vibrant community. When I'm not with the family, you'll find me watching sport or out fishing to unwind and relax.
I look forward to doing what I can, where I can as part of this Board to ensure CHS is one of the best high schools in New Zealand to attend as a student and work as staff member.

Mrs Deborah Godwin (Board Secretary)
My name is Deborah Godwin and I have been Board Secretary since 2017. I have worked at Cambridge High School since 2004, in various roles such as Uniform Shop Manager, Student Office Administrator and now my current role of Office Manager. I have enjoyed my time at CHS working with staff and students, and both my children have been educated here at Cambridge High School. I look forward to giving my continued support to the Board.
