‘Te pito mata o te kaakano’ (The seed’s potential)
I currently work for Wintec as a Manager in trades having recently left NZQA as a National Assessment Moderator and have been a practicing secondary school teacher for 14 years. I have a thorough understanding of our education system, both secondary and more recently tertiary, and the upcoming challenges and issues that we face currently and may face in the future. I bring these skills to the board as well as a commitment to seek what is best for our students, staff and community. I have been involved in coaching football and badminton at the school and other cultural activities my family is involved in.
As a school we are continually growing and changing to meet the needs of the students at our school. As a parent representative I have been proud to be involved with the development of the schools strategic plan in providing pathways for our students to become active participants in our continually changing world. Our commitment to school culture and effective learning environments remains a key focus for our board - I am proud to be a part of this work.
I have two sons in the school currently, in Year 13 and Year 11. Our family has immersed itself in what the school has to offer both culturally and sporting wise. It has been a privilege to sit on the Board at CHS and I look forward to growing the potential of our community school even further.
