STUDENT TRUSTEE

Rachel Waterton

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be sitting on the Board of Trustees this year.

I have been at Cambridge High School since Year 9 and have seen change occur in the school on many different levels. My younger brother has also been through the school and has since moved on.

From Year 9 I have taken part in many different extracurriculars and have learnt what works best for me. I spend time taking part in WSD Debate, which led to spark interest towards applying for the Board of Trustee’s student representative position.

Over my years at Cambridge High School, I have been provided with copious amounts of opportunities and support, coming from both staff and students. I felt I needed a way to contribute something back to the community that has been part of my life for so many years.

My aim for this year is to include as many different student perspectives across the school as I can. Aiming for as many ideas and opinions to be valued as possible. So the student voice is equally represented throughout the schoolwide community.

Personally, I am working towards the possibility of a future in engineering and have been accepted into the Women in Engineering programmed at the University of Canterbury for 2023. This is also a huge privilege and currently I am working towards best preparing myself for this.

I feel privileged to be a part of the Board of Trustees for the coming year and am so grateful for the opportunity to be part of future change at Cambridge High School. This is made possible by the group of dedicated members of the board who I am honored to be working alongside.
