The richest gift children can receive is the gift of their own language. Through it they can draw on the heritage of their people, stand tall in others' presence and reach out to share it with people of other cultures.

  1. Cambridge High School is a community of learners. Our core values are self-development, intellectual empowerment, and life-long learning within the diversity and strength of our one community.
  2. Our school motto is ‘Fortiter et Recte', two important ideals. The meaning of these two words in Latin is ‘Fortiter' strength or courage. ‘Recte' is integrity, right, moral standards. The motto means to be strong and have the courage to do the right thing. The Latin language is a link with the scholars of the past.
  3. Our mission statement makes three commitments:
provides learning opportunities that are innovative and relevant
promotes traditional values of self-discipline, integrity, and respect for others, and
promises our commitment to quality co-education.
  4. We have four ‘cornerstones' which relate to the symbols in our crest, which has four quadrants.
Learning which relates to the feather quill, symbol of learning and knowledge
Tradition which relates to the castle, symbol of lasting strength
Respect which relates to the key, the key to life
Quality Co-Education which relates to the symbol of the Waikato River, a dominant feature of our region, used to symbolize, through its journey to the sea, the journey of life, and life-long learning.

In total, our values, motto, mission statement, and cornerstones are cumulative and together give us our clear direction and pathway.
